- Who is eligible to participate in GSSG?
- We are an "open state". All New Hampshire residents as well as residents from other states are eligible to compete in the annual games. All sports competition is held separately for men and women in five-year age groups, starting at 50-54, 55-59, etc. up to 100+. To be eligible to compete in the Games you must be 50 by the end of the calendar year. This means you are eligible to participate in the GSSG if you are age 49, providing you turn 50 on or before December 31st.
- What Does it cost to participate in GSSG?
- There is a basic entry fee to compete in GSSG, one for NH residents and one slightly higher for out of state entrants. There is a separate fee for Golf.
- How do I become a member or partner with GSSG?
- Anyone can become a Member or Partner with GSSG.
A $20 Member receives either a GSSG lapel pin or an attractive iron-on patch featuring the Old Man of the Mountain.
A $40 Partner receives both of these.

- Does GSSG Recognize Achievement?
- Yes. Achievers receive awards - Gold, Silver, Bronze medals for placing lst, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th (except Tennis which is lst, 2nd and 3rd) in each age bracket.
- Who Qualifies for National Senior Games?
- GSSG is a member of the National Senior Games Association, Baton Rouge, LA, which holds national competition every two years in the odd-numbered years. Each state's even-numbered year's games are qualifying events for the next year's nationals. In 2009 approximately 100 athletes competed in the national games - along with 12,000 other seniors from all 50 states, D.C., Canada and other countries. Sites of recent & future national games: '95 San Antonio, TX; '97 Tucson, AZ; '99 Orlando, FL; '01 Baton Rouge, LA; '03 Virginia Beach, VA; '05 Pittsburgh, PA. '07 Louisville, KY, '09 San Francisco Bay area. The 2011 games will be held in Houston, TX and the 2013 games in Cleveland, OH.
- GSSG’s games are a qualifying event for the National Senior Games. All first, second, third and fourth finishers in each age bracket will qualify for that event, except: tennis for which only 1st, 2nd and 3rd will qualify; golfers must qualify by score; horseshoe doubles is not a qualifying event; in basketball only top 2 teams qualify. Pistols is not a qualifying event. Since NH is an “open state” the “Qualifying Down” rules comes into play; if any of the top 4 spots are taken by a non-NH resident, the top 4 NH residents will qualify.
