Granite State Senior Games Inspired by Dick Hoyt
November 21, 2010
Pictured in the color photo are Liz Kuzia and Dick Hoyt. Dick Hoyt is a 70 year old marathon runner who annually races the Boston Marathon with his quadriplegic son Ricky strapped to a wheelchair. Elizabeth Kuzia pictured to Dick’s left, is an unpaid volunteer chairlady of the Granite State Senior Games (GSSG), who volunteers her time and also competes for her own health, despite her own “handicap” of a double hip replacement. The (GSSG) is a (501c3) NH Non-Profit Organization for aged 50+ seniors which itself annually sponsors 16 Venues, and over 59-Individual Sports for seniors. Both Dick and Liz are examples of what (in the sports world), can only be referred to as “inspired individuals”, with a story to tell about each of them being able to face up to life’s challenges. These two individuals met to discuss health issues in America at the recent ”Anthem Blue Cross-Blue Shield Health Leadership Conference”, which was held at the Radisson Hotel on Friday, November 5th, 2010 where the issues of Obesity, Lack of Exercise, and, Poor Dietary Habits, affecting the Health and Wellness of all Americans, (both young and old ) were discussed.
Mr. Hoyt, who is now a senior “marathon running athlete”, was present at the health conference to show, by his own example of dedication, that all one has to say is ” Yes you can”, and then just do it.
Any person(s) aged 50 or over who may be interested in competing for their own “Health and Wellness” through involvement with the Granite State Senior Games, are urged to visit the GSSG Website at www.NHSeniorgames.org or to call GSSG at 603-232-3900, and leave a message to receive a callback with further information.
